Why the advisory model matters.

The executive search industry has, over the past two decades, shifted increasingly toward volume, large firms running large numbers of searches, with much of the day-to-day work devolved to junior researchers. The economics make sense for the firm. They rarely serve the client.

Senior appointments reward senior attention. The judgement calls that determine an outcome, how to frame the brief, whom to engage and in what order, when to push back on a client, how to read a candidate's motivations, are exactly the calls that reward experience. At Lighthouse every engagement is led personally by a partner, and we hold our mandate load deliberately low to protect that commitment.
